Miracle League Arkansas

It’s More Than Just Baseball

It began with a vision: “That every parent of a kid that is disabled would have the same memories as I do” ~ Peggy McCall, Director

Since the Fall of 2006, The Miracle League of AR has used a variety of individuals as volunteers – an indispensable part of the “Miracle League Moments” out on the field. On Fridays and Saturdays, more than 350 Buddy volunteer hours are needed to assist in capturing these memorable moments.

After answering the call, I have never encountered a Buddy who did not have their mind blown by how impressive our players are. Helping someone fulfill something and understanding that deep down this person is really not unlike yourself is one of the most illuminating and touching experiences you can go through.

hOW WE SURVIVED DEVASTATION

In the summer of 2019, the Miracle League of AR faced a devastating flood that submerged their cherished baseball field. This field, designed for children of all abilities, was left in ruins. However, the community refused to let their dreams wash away.

Over 2,500 registered volunteers and an additional 1,000 to 1,500 unregistered ones came together to rebuild the field. They worked tirelessly, clearing debris, shoveling mud, and laying 26,000 recycled tiles and bricks. Despite missing the original opening day by just one week, their dedication paid off.

The field was restored to its former glory, becoming a symbol of resilience and unity. The children returned to play, and the Miracle League of AR continued to shine as a beacon of hope, proving that when a community comes together, even the toughest challenges can be overcome.
