Outreach Program Guidelines

Funding Amount

  • Up to $5,000.00
     

Eligibility

  • Who Can Apply: Any educator, organization, or company working with K-12 students in Arkansas. Eligible applicants include K-12 schools, home school networks, cooperatives, community colleges, universities, private businesses, corporations, Civil Air Patrol, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc.

  • Project Scope: Funds are awarded exclusively for aerospace-related topics/projects. Project-based learning is preferred, and priority is given to STEM fields. Non-science classroom projects will also be considered.

  • Funding Use: Funds can be used to train students for science fair projects but not to directly fund students. They can cover supplies for student activities but are not for teacher travel to professional development conferences unless directly sponsored by NASA.
     

Duration

  • Project Duration: One year

  • Application Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round.
     

Application Requirements

  • Fully Completed Application: Must include project title, grade levels, and the number of students involved, with demographic information.

  • Detailed List of Materials: Include where items will be purchased.

  • Non-Federally Funded 1:1 Match: Required; contact the ASGC office for assistance.

  • Project Updates: Brief updates are required throughout the project, with a final report and all receipts due by the end of the funded year.
     

Proposal

  • Cover Sheet: Use the application form as a cover sheet and briefly describe your project in the summary area.

  • Proposal Document: Create a Word document including the following sections:

    1. Project Description: One or two paragraphs detailing the project and its benefits for students.

    2. Number of Students and Participation: List the number of students involved, with demographic information, and describe the level of involvement.

    3. New Aerospace-Related Materials: Detail the materials and ideas that will be incorporated.

    4. Detailed Budget Justification: List each item needed, its price, and purchase location, rounded to the nearest dollar. Include your non-federally funded match budget.
